This is lovely sterling silver picture frame by dish by the premier American silversmiths at Gorham. This egg-shaped picture frame is supported on two ball feet and has a wide solid silver border trimmed with simple streamlined banding. The border is decorated with detailed scrolls and leaves that surround a vacant cartouche at the bottom of the frame. The decoration is vibrant yet restrained that provides interest but would not be distracting to the picture. The back and hinged stand are covered in rich blue velvet. This frame is in excellent condition, and it has not been previously engraved. It measures approx. 14 1/2” high and approx. 10 1/2” wide, and the interior frame measures 12 1/4” high and 8 3/4” wide. It is marked on the edge of the border with the maker’s mark of Gorham, the word Sterling, pattern number B3927, the letters STX, and the date symbol for 1923. This beautiful antique silver picture frame would make a wonderful gift for newlyweds or for an anniversary, and would be a great compliment to any décor.
