Edward Barnard Lintott Painting

Edward Barnard Lintott (1875-1951) oil painting of mountain laurel. This fine oil painting was in the collection of the Rhode Island School of Design and bears exhibition labels from the Berkshire Museum. It retains its original French style frame and is in overall excellent condition. The canvas measures 30"h x 25"w. Lintott was born in London in 1875 and later moved to Ridgewood, NJ. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and the Academie Julian in Paris. He exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and at the Knoedler and Reinhardt Galleries amongst others. His work is in many public institutions and collections including the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Louvre, the British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the National Gallery of Art, amongst others. Lintott was the author of "The Art of Watercolor Painting" in 1920.
