17th c. Stone Fragment presented to Ambassador Bullitt

Stone fragment presented to William Bullitt, U.S. Ambassador to France. Fragment of stone features lion and crown. Fits into custom box. Box is "as-is" with missing inlay on top, also top and bottom of box are out of line causing box to not close properly. Plaque in box identifies fragment as: Sculpture fragment from the rooms of Father Marquette offered by the village of Pont a Mousson on the occasion of the visit of His Excellency William C. Bullitt, Ambassador of the United States of America to France, 24 January 1938. Fabulous and unique piece. Dimensions: (of fragment) 11.25" h x 11.25" w x 3" deep.
