Chauncey Ryder Etching "Pine Trees...Edge of Wood" 1924
Wonderful etching titled "Pine Trees at Edge of the Wood" by National Academy artist Chauncey Foster Ryder (1868-1949), circa 1924. Ryder grew up in New Haven, Connecticut and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Academie Julien in Paris. He was a Macbeth Gallery artist and Old Lyme Colony member. He lived and worked most of his life in New York City and New Hampshire and is best known for landscapes and marine scenes. Charcoal etching on paper; signed, titled and numbered at base; initial "R" in etching lower left. Housed in a simple black frame. Dimensions: 6.25"h x 8.25"l unframed; 11"h x 14"l framed.
