This is a magnificent end of the 19th Century Armchair made from solid and beautifully patinaed walnut, originally coming from Perpignan in the south west of France which explains the strong Spanish influence. The arched back elegantly stands above the large seat flanked by lovely scrolled and accented with acanthus pattern armrests, all supported by a baluster shaped pediment with an intricately sculpted bottom stretcher. The upholstery, while original, is in used condition and would need to be recovered. Minor scratches and dents can seen on the frame. Circa date 1890. Dimensions 45"high/ 16 ½”seat height/ 26"wide/ 22"deep.
