This is a magnificent Buffet, originally coming from the famous harbor of Saint Malo ( Brittany in northwestern France), notorious as the home of the corsairs, French privateers and sometimes pirates. This buffet is typical from this area and is made from a beautifully patinaed oak by the second half of the 18th century. The facade is separated into 2 sections. The upper one with a 3-drawer frieze mounted with their original hardware and the bottom section, featuring a stunning pair of doors, with pierced escutcheons, revealing a large storage compartment with single shelf. Note several scratches and dents can be seen all around due to the age. Circa date 1780. Dimensions 41”high/ 62”wide/ 25”deep.
