| This beautifully molded vase is wholly covered by an even bluish/green colored glaze, the relief circular ribbing geometrically excellent, the vase bearing a long neck culminating in a wide extended rim. Height 10.5 inches, Width 6.5 inches, Diameter of Rim 3.75 inches. Condition: Excellent with no restorations, cracks, chips, or hairlines. Together with its original signed and sealed tomobako storage box. Made in the SHOWA Period, c. 1940-50. MIYANAGA TOZAN II (1918-79) was the successor of the famous Miyanaga Tozan I upon his father's death in 1941, and was an integrally engaged in the master's kiln from the mid 1930s. The family of potters were well known for their extraordinary work with celadon glazes sharing a similar style, and quality of workmanship with the Imperial Court Artist Suwa Sozan, and his successor Suwa Sozan 2. This family of superior artists are continued rising stars in the medium of high quality Japanese ceramics.
