Koyemsi and Koshares dance around this large woven coiled basketry bowl, Hopi Indian, Second Mesa style. Although documented that it was purchased in 1977, we have no record of the weaver, but she sure was good! Vegtal dyed red, black and yellow, imbricated details and the Mudheads all have woven rattles. This impressive basket stands 10" tall and is 11 1/2" diameter. Perfect original condition. Buyer pays $25.00 for shipping and insurance. Indian baskets of the southwest were collected by Bert Carlson, Scottsdale, Arizona, a major collector of Indian artifacts of Arizona. He began acquiring his art in about 1966, buying in galleries and at auctions and from other collectors. At the age of 92 in 2010, he divided up his collection among his three children, from whom we acquired this basket. |
