Huge Hopi Indian Kachina Basket

Purchased in 1977 from Second Mesa Hopi Indian weaver Esther Lomayaktewa, this fantastic oval bowl features Crow Mothers, Heheyas and Pookang Kwivis (Proud War Gods), a cloud band above and a rainbow below.

All vegetal dyed colors of red, yellow and black, imbricated details.

At 10" tall by 18" long by 12" wide, this is the largest Hopi Indian basket we have had in years!

Very fine original condition, slight age patina.

Buyer pays $30.00 for shipping and insurance.

Indian baskets of the southwest were collected by Bert Carlson, Scottsdale, Arizona, a major collector of Indian artifacts of Arizona. He began acquiring his art in about 1966, buying in galleries and at auctions and from other collectors. At the age of 92 in 2010, he divided up his collection among his three children, from whom we acquired this basket.
