Classic Zuni Indian pendant of overlay on shell from the 1930s.
The original 1982 receipt and box from the Lovena Ohl Scottsdale gallery show it is part of the remaining jewelry from the C G Wallace Collection that didn't sell at auction.
Green turquoise, jet and mother of pearl are boldly overlaid on a light yellow shell, set in a hand crafted sterling silver bezel on a cold chiseled platform with silver feathers and raindrops.
Measures 3 1/2" tall by 3 1/4" across, light weight to wear.
Old traders marks on the back, indicates his wholesale price. Also scratched in is "Lee".
This Zuni Indian style of jewelry was created by many of the fine artisans for Mr. Wallace, most notably was Lambert Homer.
See the Auction catalog page 63, item #330 for a shell with the same silver work.
This Zuni shell is a wonderful addition to any serious collection of American Indian jewelry.
Buyer pays $20.00 for shipping and insurance.
