A very rare mysterious Yei figure is woven into this brightly colored Germantown wool tapestry. A Navajo Indian mystic figure found in sandpaintings, possibly a Grandfather Horned Toad, note the "tail".
Germantown wool was already spun and dyed in bright colors, saving the weavers much time and effort. The era of 1890-1910 saw many Germantowns.
Two other unusual aspects to this old textile are the placement of a lead slug wrapped in the fringe at the top, and the deliberate space in the fringe on the bottom, like a spirit line.
22" wide by 37" long plus the fringe. All original condition, very nice!
Buyer pays $25.00 for shipping and insurance.
