Lovely red pottery bowl is painted with several clay slips outlined in white, gold, orange and gray-blue. This polychrome style of pottery from Santa Clara Pueblo became the rage around 1940 and was used extensively by Flora Naranjo and Reycita Chavarria. Traditionally hand coiled native clay is beautifully shaped, then stone burnished red slip, painted designs and pit fired where the colors actually appear! 4 1/2" deep by 6" diameter, fine original condition! Unsigned. From the Estate of Orpha MacPherson, read about her in our blog! Buyer pays $15.00 for shipping and insurance. |
