A lovely 1950s era wicker tray by the Hopi Indians of Third Mesa. 13" diameter, finely woven sivapi (rabbit brush) colored with aniline and vegetal dyes. Softening of the colors from time.
Possibly a Hilili Kachina, someone (Alston) spent hours going through every book we have, still can't pin it down.
Lovely nine warp start creates a finely detailed Kachina. The newer baskets are down to three warp sticks.
Excellent original condition!
Buyer pays $20.00 for shipping and insurance.
