From the west side of the Navajo Indian Reservation we find the newest style of weaving design is the Tree of Life. Gaining in popularity with those weavers since the 1970s, many are from just a couple of families near Cameron Trading Post. This almost square rug, 35" by 36" has a double simple border with a tree full of birds, 30 of them! Look for the two nests and mother bird with worm. Many types of birds are pictures in flight and perched. Trading Post wool is hand spun, and woven on wool warp. From a local collection of the 1980s, in like new condition, weaver's name is lost. Buyer pays $20.00 for shipping and insurance. |
