Haungooah Vintage Black and Sienna Pottery

A rare two tone, black and sienna, fired pottery jar by Kiowa artist Haungooah, Art Cody. This actually takes three firings to achieve and is quite difficult.

Sgrafitto carving of an animal on highly polished surface inside a fret border, with a feather border around the mouth. Could it be a coatamundi?

Nicely round jar is 3 1/4" tall by 4 1/2" diameter.

Perfect original condition from 1982.

>Haungooah was the grandson of a famous Kiowa scout who also was known for his ledger drawings.

Art Haungooah changed his signature many times, this is a late version. He was one of the early potters to explore the sgrafitto carving method, along side Joseph Lonewolf, TsePe Gonzales and Tony Da. Haungooah met a tragic end in about 1985.

Buyer pays $20.00 for shipping and insurance.
