Mid Century Acoma Pueblo Pottery Canteen
A friendly bird is featured on this large pottery canteen by Carmel Lewis Acoma Pueblo Indian artist, daughter of Lucy Lewis. Carmel didn't sign her name but her signature bird feet and style of bird make it clear. Most pottery was not signed there until the late 50s or early 60s.

Hand coiled native clay is nicely worked, with braided handles and an angled base so it displays well.

9" across the lugs, 7 1/2" tall at the spout, the body is 8" globe.

Polychrome design of floral elements is bee plant and orange clay slip, pit fired.

Fine original condition, with minor shelf wear.

Buyer pays $30.00 for shipping and insurance.
