Traditionally hand crafted Hopi pottery by Rachel Healing Nampeyo, 1900-1985.
Rachel, daughter of Annie, mother of Dextra and Priscilla, was raised along side Fannie, who shared the same birth year. All are amazing artisans of the traditional pottery making.
This small flat shoulder jar was purchased from Rachel in 1968, see the Polaroid taken at the time.
Traditionally hand built with native clay, stone burnished and painted with bee plant in a Nampeyo family design. The out door firing was accomplished with no wind so no clouds!
6" diameter by 4" tall, one rim chip and one pop out on the shoulder, minor surface wear.
