Charles Loloma Silver Jewelry
Classic sterling silver cuff bracelet created by the world famous Hopi Indian artist Charles Loloma, 1921-1991. A large top quality Lander Blue turquoise, 35-40 carats, is off set in a silver bezel on the deeply textured tufa cast band.

Charles Loloma is revered as the most innovative Indian artist of the twentieth century. His departure from the status quo of Indian style jewelry changed American Indian arts forever. Some of Loloma's first jewelry entries at the Gallup Indian Ceremonial were actually turned down as being too "non-Indian". But 40 years later his work has inspired generations of Indian silversmiths.

Two museum exhibits and books have brought his body of work to the public's attention; "Totems and Turquoise" at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City and "Loloma" at the Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian in Santa Fe.

Very few pieces of Charles Loloma's jewelry are ever available at any one time, most go from collector to collector. This elegant bracelet was custom made for our client in 1977 by Loloma.

The cuff follows the contour of the arm with the turquoise worn to the outside of the wrist. Charles Loloma designed this style of bracelet to be most flattering to a woman's hand.

Although this bracelet has been sold we are always looking for more fine pieces of the art of Charles Loloma. Let us know if you have some to sell or would like to make a purchase.
