Sweet little bowl is either Mono or Yokuts Basin Indian basketry. Woven with wefts of sedgeroot, bracken fern (black) and redbud coiled over a bundle of epicampes rigens. Nice polychrome snake band surrounds the body, a coil of red and and a coil of black on the base. In most circumstances Mono Indian baskets have a weft weave leaning right and the Yokuts weavers have a left leaning weft. 8 3/4" diameter by 3 1/2" deep. Six coils and eight wefts per inch, nice even weave. This 1920s era basket has no missing stitches or coil breaks, original condition, golden age patina.
