Mohave Indian Elmer Gates was known for his nicely crafted pottery that was well painted. This is an unusual pitcher form, in fine original condition, no cracks or chips. Elmer Gates, 1922-1990, followed after Annie Fields as the two best known potters from the Mojave tribe. His style was more contemporary and finely painted. This pitcher is hand coiled, you can see it inside, and pit fired. Unsigned as many of his early pieces were. This pottery was collected at Parker during the late 1960s. Buyer pays $20.00 for shipping. |
