Gorgeous Deco Chinese ring wrought in sterling silver and adorned with a stone that is a puzzle to me - I cannot decide whether it's truly turquoise or if it's turquoise colored glass...

One of the three listed Riveras, I suspect that the maestro signing this necklace probably apprenticed or worked at the Los Castillo / Margot de Taxco tallers since a lot of his jewelry emulates designs that originated in those workshops. A little longer than most classic Mexican chokers, this piece is carefully crafted with confident repousse and its medium weight makes it the perfect accessory for the upcoming warmer days of spring and summer. Measuring a wearable 15 1/4" long by 3/4" wide ...

I have never had a cuff bracelet by Gerardo Lopez before - in fact, I had never even seen one to this day. We are used to his repousse necklaces, bracelets and clampers but an example of this form bearing his signature is truly a first - at least for me. Wrought in sterling silver, the design is classic Taxco and can be found in various configurations; from single row to five row; cast or made out of thick silver sheet like here...

I absolutely love by-pass rings and am always on the look out for gorgeous examples of Mexican derivation. And I am very happy to be able to offer this exquisite piece here. Based on Margot de Taxco's and the Los Castillo's "Koi Fish" parures yet bearing the signature of Balderas it dates in the 1950s-60s period...

Among Gerardo Lopez's most collected clamper designs, I love to refer to this specific creation as his "flames" bracelet because of the way the repousse rises in vivacious twists and twirls. This is indeed an impressive piece - like most of Lopez's clampers are - but not overwhelmingly involved and a sheer pleasure to wear. Its patina is warm and its hinge is tight as if it has been treated very gently throughout its long life...

I am thrilled to present this small wonder of Matilde Poulat's, an early hair comb with the maestra's signature repousse and bezel set jewels. In this case, the stones are one amethyst and two faux turquoise cabs positioned in a pyramid shape right at the comb's center. Gorgeous patina, no flaws noted, with the actual plastic comb in very good shape (I believe also original to the piece), this is a treasure to be displayed and enjoyed...

Having worked in Margot de Taxco's taller, Antonio Reina is known for his masterful renditions of and variations on her designs. The fish necklace presented here is loosely based on Margot's koi fish motifs but these creatures here definitely have an attitude. Very carefully made with good, pronounced repousse and the best patina ever, the necklace measures 15 3/4" long (wearable; actual length is 16 1/4") and is 13/16" wide...

Early Matilde Poulat cuff bracelet in her signature "Paloma" design, I have to admit that I had never encontered a cuff by Matl before. This is the match to the necklace that is also currently available in my inventory and the two look stunning together. It is getting rather difficult to find such early examples of Matilde's work not to mention a necklace and cuff of the same design together...

I love Antonio crosses - most of the times, they look more like a work of abstract art than a symbol of one's spirituality. And the silver, pearl and (I believe) zoisite or chrysoprase pendant here is definitely a good example of that. Simply gorgeous, with fantastic patina and the most adorable pearls, it catches the eye with its sense of motion and the green gem at its center...

A fantastic alternative to the very hard to find Salvador Teran original, this set of earrings bears the signature of Taller Taxco. A very intriguing workshop, Taller Taxco's jewelry are all emulations of Teran's designs - and of very high quality at that. Though there is suspicion of a relationship between the two, nothing has been proven until today yet it's indisputable that the pair at hand comes very close to Teran's work...

Obviously inspired by a similar Antonio design, this mod Margarita bracelet is spectacularly massive. Its substantial concave links are alternated by ones that hold chunky amethyst cabochons set in bezels. The stones are gorgeous with interesting inclusions and the beading that separates the pairs adds that little extra pizzaz to the design. Wrought out of 980 silver the bracelet has an inner circumference of 6 5/8" (clasped) so it's perfect for smaller to medium wrists...

In the 1940s, the Los Ballesteros taller made several variations of "dimpled dot" bracelets, most of them hinged, and adorned with impressive gems held in raised crown settings. The piece here is possibly the most massive, absolutely breath-taking of the series. I could not exaggerate the powerful presence, the warm patina and the gorgeous, big simulated alexandrite stone that centers it. Definitely a statement bracelet for a lady that does not hide away in the shadows...

Famous for the masterful, seamless way he combines silver and stone, Enrique Ledesma needs no further introduction to the lover of Mexican silver jewelry. His modernist designs prove that elegance is definitely not fussy - and the bracelet at hand illustrates, I believe, the statement in the best possible way...

One of my absolutely favorite Los Castillo designs, this pre-Colombian feathers motif has something undeniably imposing about it. Whether it's the noticeable heft of the silver sheet out of which the links have been cut or the meticulous way they have been finished and put together with rivets on the back, it never fails to catch they eye. The necklace at hand is actually two-in-one! A classic choker size, the bigger length is elegantly complemented by the shorter piece to form a more comfort...

A beautiful example of mid-century mod studio jewelry, the brooch at hand attracted my attention for its asymmetrical angularity, the fluid abstraction of the climber's figure and the dark touch of the onyx glass cab below him. Though unsigned like many pieces from the period, its quality bespeaks the skills of its maker. The brooch is 3 1/4" wide by just shy of 1 1/2" tall and weighs 10.8 grams. It is not marked for maker or metal content but guaranteed sterling and dates in the 1950s-60...

Early, stunning and in excellent vintage condition, an all-silver repousse Matilde Poulat necklace featuring her favorite dove and rose motifs. I can hardly exaggerate the caliber of the craftsmanship and the attention to every minute detail in the execution of the design. This is indeed a true masterpiece dating in the beginnings of Matl's career and we all know how difficult it is to find such an old piece by her any more. Spectacular and quite comfortable to wear as well because of the wide i...

A pre-1948 Alfredo Villasana clamper bracelet, exhibiting its maker's prowess in the art of complex repoussage. I consider Villasana's clampers among the best in the genre for their meticulous finishing, the sturdy hinges that seem to last a long time, their good weight and pronounced relief designs. The piece at hand has a inner circumference of 6 3/4" so it's perfect for smaller to medium wrists but can also accommodate bigger sizes due to its hinged construction. Its width varies between 3 ...
