A very unusual, early Deco Mexican silver and faux tortoise shell demi comprised of a necklace and matching dangle teardrop earrings. There is an intense Spanish Colonial feel about this set and, if I may say so, a distinct regal air too. Each link is carefully inlaid with a silver peacock perched on a branch and the birds of the central medallion and the earring dangles are adorned with shimmering abalone shell. The workmanship is stunning here and the result beyond any expectations...

Early Taxco necklace and earrings set in what I like to refer to as the "curlicues and beads" design, wrought in 980 silver as is oftentimes the case with pieces as old as this demi. The necklace is a joy to wear and the earrings have been converted to posts. Very folky and quite generous in weight, the set has the fantastic glow that only 980 silver can develop over time. Measuring a wearable 16 1/4" long (actual length 16 1/2") the necklace is 7/8" wide and weighs 60.2 grams...

I was stunned when I first saw this early Mexico City brooch bearing the signature of Barrera - just couldn't get over the masterful repoussage and the fantastic oxidation that has rendered the design even more pronounced in its surface layering.Definitely reminiscent of Matilde Poulat's early work and a fantastic example of Mexico City silversmithing. The brooch is 2 5/8" tall by 2 5/8" wide (at its widest) and weighs 24.4 grams...

Fabulous pair of mod, space-age Mexican silver dangle earrings with azur-malachite inlay in the style of the Los Castillo "Mosaico Azteca" line. Just note the Saturn-like spheres at the end of the slick, long stems and the dimension that the inlaid band around them adds to the design. Spectacular and so unique! Each earring is 2 1/4" long and the diameter of the dangling sphere with the band around it is 3/4"...

Created by Michelsen in 1940 to honor the birthday of Princess Marguerethe
the "Daisies" line is one of the most avidly collected among fans of Danish jewelry and Michelsen afficionados alike.
The necklace presented here is the best example of "Daisies" necklaces I have seen, combining the sterling and vermeil white enamel flowers in five groups of three and finishing with an appropriately delicate chain.
Equally suited for a young girl and for all romantic females its light-heartedness i...

Early, early Taxco necklace wrought in 980 silver, its links shaped like inverted ... mushrooms, each one adorned with a bezel-set turquoise cabochon. I love the variation in the stones' color, their rich veining and I just can't get over the "naivete" of the design. One of the most interesting, early pieces I have seen out of Taxco! The necklace measures 16 7/8" long and the "mushroom" links are 1 1/16" tall by 7/8" wide...

Superbly carved out of a relatively thick piece of two-tone orange jade this sautoir's pendant showcases two moths facing each other across a flower in full bloom. The figural carving is repeated on the reverse side and its detail is amazing. The jade pendant is 2 1/4" in diameter and adds a 3 1/4" drop to the "chain" including the infinity knot above it. The sautoir's wearable length is 29". In excellent vintage condition.

One of the areas that the Los Ballesteros taller seems to have excelled is in the design of hinged bangle bracelets, most of them adorned with faceted, open-backed gems. This is one of their creations that combines the warmth of aged silver with the exuberance of color-changing sapphire, a known alexandrite simulant in the corundum family often used in vintage Taxco jewelry...

I have seen this type of bracelets referred to as "four season" bracelets and since I can't read Chinese, I am assuming that the flowers and plants in its four layered links are each associated with a specific period in the year. The figural links alternate with chirography ones, the writing framed in raised oval reserves and surrounded by more flowers. The bracelet has an inner circumference of 6 3/4" and it is 1" wide weighing 59.6 grams...
