Early and rather rare - in all the years that I have been involved with vintage Mexican silver jewelry I have not seen another one like it - this is a bracelet with a big "wow" factor. Wide, with beautiful cut-out designs, its links are constructed in the shadow-box style which adds a dramatic sense of depth to the bracelet. Beautiful amethyst cabochons, twist-rope wire decoration and a pin closure complete the Deco marvel...

Stupendous pair of Taxco sterling silver earrings in the shape of dangling crosses made up of thick "x"s with curled ends. I have never seen a more massive set and let me assure you that the visual impact is beyond description. Each earring is 1 7/8" long by 1 1/16" wide (at its widest) and the pair's weight registers at 24.4 grams. They are signed with maker's initials "AJ" which can also be found on Bernice Goodspeed pieces as well as "TAXCO MEXICO 925" and bear Eagle 3 assay mark...

An early, imposing Deco necklace with heavy, cast silver links in a combination of foliate and stylized floral designs this piece looks stunning when you have it on. I am attracted to the complexity and deeply chased details of the links and find the cloudy depths of the amethyst cabs beguiling. An unsigned treasure (though it does remind me of Prosa pieces) and one of those necklaces that can win you the night just by themselves...

Copying Hector Aguilar's early "pre-Colombian" design an old Taxco bracelet wrought in 980 silver with great patina, good weight and an endearing naivete in its execution. There is a warm earthiness about this design and the bracelet is so comfortable to wear. It measures 7 1/2" long (wearable; its total length is 7 7/8") by 1" wide and is 38.9 grams heavy. SImply signed "980 TAXCO" it dates in the early 1940s and is in excellent vintage condition.

An old, pre-1948 Mexican silver ring in the style of Matilde Poulat having a square face with bezel set turquoise cabs surrounding an amethyst stone. I love these early Matl-esque pieces for their high quality of craftsmanship and the nice stones as they do offer a good alternative to Matilde pieces which are becoming more difficult to find and rather pricey. This ring is a sz 6.25 and its face measures 7/8" by 3/4" - almost square but not quite so...

I am thrilled to present a demi by Niels Erik From of Denmark wrought in sterling silver and adorned with amber cabochons. This is in my opinion one of From's best designs, exhibiting that amazing sensitivity to nature that Scandinavian jewelry is so known for. The necklace measures 16 1/4" long with its floral links part being 7" long by 5/8" wide; the earrings are clip-ons and 1" in diameter while the brooch is 1 3/8" in diameter...

I suspect that the design for this clamper bracelet by Antonio Reina is related to Margot de Taxco's hearts, cupids and roses line only here the different elements were combined in a bouquet in the hands of an anonymous lover. I have only seen one other piece in this specific design that was made in the pre-1948 period; usually similar pieces are newer making this example here a rather rare find and an early Reina piece as indicated by its low design number...

Beautiful Matl hand-mirror with ornate scroll work around the oval "looking glass" and bezel set turquoise cabs. The teardrop repousse handle has exquisite patina as does the whole piece. A veritable Matilde treasure and an example of her work I have never had before.
The mirror measures 4 1/2" tall by 2 1/2" wide (at its widest). It weighs 32.7 grams and is signed "MATL MEXICO 925 SALAS"...

Big, beautifully worked and warmly patinated early Mexican silver brooch in the shape of the Quetzal, the Maya sacred bird and one of the two creatures combined in the figure of Quetzalcoatl, the Feathered Serpent. This is the second time I have had a brooch in this design and I am equally impressed now by it as I was when I first came upon it...

Jose Luis Flores for Miguel mod sterling silver bracelet - to my eyes, its links look like a stylized flatfish and I love the patina that makes the intricate silverwork of the design more distinct and three-dimensional. The bracelet measures just shy of 6 3/4" long (wearable) by 1 1/8" wide and it weighs 43.9 grams. It is fully signed with both Miguel's initial in script as well as Jose Luis Flores's initials and bears Eagle 3 assay number...

A classic Margot de Taxco design reflecting her acknowledgement of the fact that the Mexican Silver Renaissance's roots lay in the country's rich pre-Colombian past the cufflinks and tie clasp presented here is referred to habitually as the "Maya" design. I am impressed by the strong features and the will-power evident on the ancient face and the expressive way they have been rendered by the repoussage. Gorgeous, book-piece set; and the best about it? One of Margot's most famous designs the "Swans" comes in two forms - the one a little more stylized / minimalist than the other but both a dream to wear and behold. Just take a look at the sculpturality of the flawless repoussage in this pair; the elegant way the birds lower their head toward their chests; the profusion of detail in the feathers; and the way the patina accentuates the three-dimensional effect of the design. The earrings measure 1 3/8" tall by 7/8" wide (at their widest)...
