Obviously based on Matilde Poulat's "moth" design, an early Deco silver and turquoise ring that could hail from Mexico City yet it's difficult to say since it's unmarked...

Early Sigi Pineda combination pin/pendant necklace from the first years of his independent career, when his taller was still called "Plateros". Nested in a biomorphic concave "shell", the minimalist figure of a man playing a green stone drum (at least to my eyes) hangs from a tube link chain. The work has Sigi's abstract design signature and exudes a raw animism that catches the eye and the imagination...

Undoubtedly inspired by Margot de Taxco's Koi Fish line, a pair of early Antonio Reina repousse earrings showing playful fish among stylized silver waves. I can't get over the detail in this set - just note the depth of the repoussage, the detail in the scales and the hand-hammering in the waves themselves to render them three-dimensional. The earrings are 1 5/8" long by 15/16" wide and weigh 8.4 grams (for the set)...

I am always thrilled to come upon Rancho Alegre jewelry - I find that their creations, especially their cuffs, are veritable masterpieces both in design as well as craftsmanship. The early mod cuff at hand in a dramatic "wave" motif plays with the constrast between shadow and light as its recessed, heavily oxidized field stands dark against the warmly glowing double-rimmed edges. Even the inner surface is hand-hammered here and bespeaks the high quality of Rancho Alegre pieces...

I am thrilled to present you with this truly majestic, early Deco Mexican silver repousse Pegasus brooch. I have seen this specific design bearing the signature of Fred Davis and have also sold a Casa Prieto example a year or so ago. It doesn't come up very often and its scarcity is only matched by its sublime appearance and the visual impact that it has. This example is not marked for maker yet its repoussage is strong and layered to impart more of a life-like appearance to it...

Apparently a bracelet that doesn't come up very often since its makers,
the Bjorklund Bros, only stayed in business for a short ten year period,
this is a gorgeous piece adorned with pale, semi-translucent pink or better peach stones
(a kind of quartz maybe?).
Based in Copenhagen, the Borklunds created less-is-more, distinctly Danish mod jewelry between 1961 and 1971.
Their brief business presence does not seem to have affected the popularity of their jewelry; on the contrary, their rarit...

I am really fond of these "clamshell" modernist bracelets that came out of Taxco in the mid-1940s and 1950s! In fact, I am very partial to the whole line of jewelry in that design - from necklaces to rings to pendants, brooches and earrings...

Signed with the initials of a listed Taxco maestro whose work I don't think I ever had before, a superbly crafted sterling silver repousse clamper bracelet from the pre-1948 period.
The intertwined feathers and scrolls making up the "wings" are boldly textured and the oxidation that has settled in the recesses over the years has made them even more dramatic. This is indeed a complex design and it has been wonderfully rendered...

Matching the necklace in the same design that is also currently available in my inventory (see listing no 1190796 and also look at last photo here), a masterfully designed and executed Deco bracelet by a maker whose signature can also be found on Estela Popowski and Rancho Alegre pieces. Perfect repousse, deeply saturated amethyst cabs and gorgeous patina contribute to its stunning appearance. The bracelet measures 7" long (wearable) by 1 1/8" wide and weighs 32.0 grams...

We are all so used to Maciel cuff bracelets featuring boldly rendered repousse florals so this piece comes as a little surprise. Sweet as can be, it almost belongs among the so-called story-telling jewelry that feature vignettes of everyday life in the villages and small Mexican towns...
