One of the most accomplished Taxco maestros, Miguel Melendez ranks high among my favorite mod designers, his creations successfully combining minimalist motifs with exceptional craftsmanship and gorgeous, faceted gems. The hinged bracelet at hand is adorned with three prong-set amethysts, the stems upon which they rest rising above stylized sterling leaves...

Entirely hand-wrought in a style that brings to mind early Matilde Poulat pieces this is a monumental, early Mexican Deco bracelet. Comprised of four curved links, it resembles a hinged bangle more than a link bracelet because it holds its shape firmly when you have it on - just like a bangle would. There is no way I could ever exaggerate the depth and complexity of its repousse - this is astonishing work, immaculately executed, having a patina that lends more drama and depth to it...

Signed with initials "AAR", which have been associated with Antonio Reina, a hinged bracelet in a pre-Colombian mirrored design based on an original Margot de Taxco creation. The deeply chased design in the bracelet's face reminds me of highly stylized line drawings of birds facing in opposite directions. The cut-outs in the side links and the beading accents intensify the piece's "archaeological" period feel...

Beautifully made vintage Deco Chinese silver filigree bracelet comprised of five domed links, the three central housing shimmering golden brown tiger's eye cabochons in bezel settings. The elaborate filigree of the links is accented by blue and purple enamel in foliate and floral designs. Excellent workmanship and eye-catching combination of colors and motifs.
The bracelet measures 6 3/4" long (wearable) by 1" wide (at its widest) and weighs 45.1 grams...

Signed with the initials of a listed Taxco maestro whose work I don't think I ever had before, a superbly crafted sterling silver repousse clamper bracelet from the pre-1948 period.
The intertwined feathers and scrolls making up the "wings" are boldly textured and the oxidation that has settled in the recesses over the years has made them even more dramatic. This is indeed a complex design and it has been wonderfully rendered...

In my opinion one of the most talented, innovative maestros of the Taxco 20th c. Silver Renaissance, Jose Luis Flores created some amazing designs that were sold not only under his own name but bore the hallmarks of Miguel Martinez, Emma Melendez and Rubi Ramirez as well...

Extraordinary, drop-dead gorgeous early Far Fan necklace in the taller's favorite chain style, this time in a rather rare combination for them of silver and copper. I have a weakness for Mexican jewelry that combines metals and I also love some of Far Fan's designs - so here you have it!
Two lengths of thick gauge sterling chain wrought so that they follow the contour of the neckline and a row of perfect repousse copper semi-spheres all bound together in a true masterpiece...

Early Deco Mexican necklace consisting of wide flattened silver links and a central part made up of stylized repousse beaded fans topped by scrumptious amethyst cabochons.
Lovingly hand-crafted out of almost pure, 980 silver, the necklace bears an impressed hallmark that bespeaks its early date...

In my opinion one of the best maestros in the art of repoussage, Jose Anton created both holloware and jewelry and was among the first Taxco Renaissance silversmiths. His work has never disappointed me - very creative designs, confident repousse and beautifully combined silver and stones elevate his pieces above the level of most of his contemporaries. I have seen the bracelet at hand with amethyst as well but I find that the onyx ascribes a certain kind of classiness to the design...

Early Mexican silver necklace of fine grade silver in a minimalist yet visually powerful pre-Colombian motif bearing the signature of Jorge "Chato" Castillo.
Chato's jewelry doesn't come up very often and his earlier pieces, like this, are usually wrought in 980 silver. I like to call this the "Shields and Bead" motif and really love its austere elegance!
Measuring 15 3/4" long the necklace is 1 1/8" wide and weighs 40.5 grams...

Sweet, early Taxco festoon silver necklace in a design inspired by Mexico's long Spanish Colonial tradition. I love the patina that adds more dimension to the repousse links but feel that the prong set amethyst cabs with the little cascabeles hanging off them are indeed the detail that gives this piece its distinct character and charm.
Measuring 16 1/2" long its central part is 8 3/4" and the floral links with the cascabeles add a 1 1/4" drop to it...

Big, impressive and very nicely cast sterling silver bracelet and matching brooch bearing the signature of the Peruzzi Bros' Boston line. One of the oldest Italian jeweler families still in production, Fll Peruzzi are renowned for their Renaissance Revival designs and their beautiful castings. The set at hand is made up of rectangular panels featuring Greek warriors and ladies in garden settings with the ever-present putti in the mix...
