| Masterful repousse with powerful movement as the silver is shaped to lovingly embrace the large teardrop amethyst cabochons make this necklace a spectacular example of Beto's striking craftsmanship. A listed maestro about whom, however, not much is known Beto began working in the pre-1948 period and created elegantly feminine jewelry, many based on floral and foliate motifs. I always seek out his silver and amethyst pieces as I believe that though he loved incorporating semi-precious stones and abalone in his work, he was amazingly successful in this specific combination. Measuring a wearable 16 1/8" long the necklace is 1" wide with a total weight of 63.4 grams. It is signed with maker's name as well as "TAXCO GRO 925" and "HECHO EN MEXICO STERLING" and dates in the 1940s. It is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws noted in the repousse nor the stones and the amethysts having strong, deep color and interesting inclusions. | ||
