| Based on one of Fred Davis's celebrated "book-piece" designs a "Maltese Cross" sterling silver and amethyst necklace with powerful presence and some of the most amazing gems I have ever seen! For those of us who like sets, the matching bracelet and brooch are also currently available at One Good Eye Silver. Carefully cut out of thick gauge silver sheet the crosses are embellished with two sizes of repousse semi-spheres and held together with sturdy, flattened connectors. I love the fold-over clasp, which is exactly what Davis used on his pieces as well. The necklace is 18" long by 1 1/4" wide and sits divinely around the neck. Each gem has a diameter of about 9/16" and is at least 1/4" thick at the center of the dome - these are big, showy stones. The piece's total weight comes up to 108.8 grams. Signed simply "MEXICO STERLING", it dates in the 1930s-40s and is in excellent vintage condition | ||
