|Early Mexican Deco silver repousse brooch in the Mexico City style, which is very reminiscent of Matilde Poulat's techniques. This type of jewelry was hand-wrought in the country's capital before the Taxco Renaissance, is usually marked "MEXICO SILVER" and is becoming highly sought after today because of its early date, bold designs and good craftsmanship. The repousse on this butterfly is truly pronounced and parts of its body are textured as well. Dramatic presence, very good size and good patina - a must have addition to the discerning collector's treasure chest... The brooch is 2 5/8" long by approx. 2" tall and weighs 18.5 grams. It is signed "SILVER MEXICO", dates in the 1920s-30s and is in excellent vintage condition.|
