SUPERB GRAZIELLA LAFFI PERU SILVER CUFF BRACELET
It is not often that one stumbles upon a massive Graziella Laffi bracelet and I am thrilled to be able to offer this spectacular, museum quality piece bearing the signature of Peru's foremost designer. Born in Florence, Italy Graziella Laffi is referred to as "the Spratling of Peru". She lived and worked in that country and drew inspiration from ancient Inca goldwork to create masterpieces in silver. Her jewelry combined ancient design with the minimalism of 1950s modernism and the cuff offered here is a splendid example of that marriage. Hand-hammered, thick silver sheet with intense oxidation and a highly stylized applique of a warrior or a bird of prey on one side; on the other, a simple raised silver button complete the decoration on a cuff that brings to mind ancient warrior arm bands. The bracelet has an inner circumference of 7" (including the 15/16" gap). Even though a cuff, I wouldn't advise trying to stretch it too much either way because it is made of heavy gauge silver. Its width varies between 2 3/8" and 1 3/16" and it weighs 76.6 a very generous 76.6 grams. It is signed "LAFFI PERU" and "925" and dates in the 1950s. In excellent vintage condition - simply stunning.
