SOLD - Thank you!
Alfredo Villasana's repousse, especially in his clamper bracelets, is among the strongest I have seen in vintage Mexican silver jewelry. Having worked for Spratling and Aguilar he developed the skills and design sensitivity that allowed him to create some of the most eye-catching clampers characterized by their robust presence and their high craftsmanship. A variation on the classic Deco "fern" design, this bracelet has deeply oxidized recesses that intesify its three-dimensional appeal and the dramatic curl at the end of each "wing". A veritable work of art - and this time for smaller to medium wrists, which is not often encountered! -, worthy of the best collection and a bracelet that will not go unnoticed. With an inner circumference of 6 1/2" the clamper is 2 5/8" wide in the front and 1 1/2" at its narrowest, in the back. It weighs a very generous 75.0 grams, is fully signed as shown and dates in the 1940s. Excellent vintage condition with a strong, snappy hinge and fantastic patina.
