|Charm bracelets were always popular but even more so in the 1950s-60s, when they became all the rage with big film divas wearing and advertising them. Understandably, the Mexican talleres happily joined in the fun and created some spectacular examples. This is the second piece in this specific design that I have had over the years and I believe it is superb! Distinctly three-dimensional with its double row of domed silver links that catches the eye right away, and heavy enough to make itself felt around the wrist. Yet most importantly, so playful with its 12 figural charms decorated with shimmering abalone inlay - there are birds and cacti, men taking siestas in the shade of their sombreros, hand-woven rugs, palm trees and roosters. A veritable vacation tableau right around the wrist... The bracelet measures 7 5/8" long (wearable) by 9/16" wide (for the chain); the charms hang between 3/4" and 1 1/4" off the chain and the set weighs 44.8 grams. Signed with maker's initials "LET" alongside Eagle 3 assay mark, "HECHO EN MEXICO TAXCO 925" and "MADE IN MEXICO" it dates in the 1950s-60s and is in excellent vintage condition.|
