| I appreciate Gomez's work as a great example of Mexico City repousse, the style of which is readily recognized in Matilde Poulat's early creations. The big brooch with the dangles and the turquoise cabochon bezel set in the center is obviously inspired by Matilde's design - it does have the same primordial appeal as her pieces and it is very well crafted too. Measuring 2 1/4" long by 2 7/8" tall (including the dangles), the brooch is 24.7 grams. It is signed with Gomez's name (missing the G) in early raised letters as well as "MEXICO 925" and dates in the 1930s. Excellent vintage condition with a beautiful greenish blue stone. | ||
