| A spectacular sterling silver bracelet based on Jensen's famous "Dove" design this piece was made by Norseland in the 1940s-50s period. Owned by Coro, Norseland was the trademark for which the company reserved their best quality silver jewelry, pieces that usually emulated Scandinavian, and more often Danish, creations. It seems that Jensen himself purchased the "Dove" from Christian Mohl-Hansen, the Danish painter who created it around 1904-7, and then issued different variations using an array of semi-precious stones in many of them. The popularity of the design and the really high prices that Jensen's jewelry commanded prompted many other manufacturers in the US to create their own versions - some of better quality than others. Undoubtedly, the Norseland pieces stand out among the emulations. Beautifully cast, the bracelet at hand is a very rare piece for the company as it is studded with coral cabs, three in each foliate link, securely set in their bezels. The bracelet measures 7 1/2" long (wearable) by 7/8" wide and weighs 40.4 grams. It is marked with Norseland's signature Viking ship logo as well as "STERLING" and "REG. US PAT. OFF." and dates in the 1940s-50s period. In excellent vintage condition with the added security of a safety chain and a fantastic alternative for all of us who love Jensen jewelry but can't get them or simply can't always afford them. | ||
