| A listed silversmith whose work does not come up very often, C. Molina is in my opinion one of the most interesting "less celebrated" contributors to Mexico's 20th c. silver Renaissance. I have had two or three pieces of his over the years and they have all been monumental examples with very good weight and impeccable craftsmanship. I would say that I actually deem his work as impressive and eye-pleasing as H. Santana's jewelry. The bracelet offered here is definitely big - its cutwork links are 2 1/4" wide and its total wearable length is 7 1/2". It weighs 102.7 grams and is studded with 7 dramatically domed obsidian cabochons. Signed by its maker as shown as well as bearing the name "ANTON'S", which I presume to be the retailer through which the bracelet was sold, it is in excellent vintage condition and dates in the 1940s. Please note that there are a couple of shallow chips off the obsidian edges on the back of the stones, where they are not visible - definitely a result of the setting process and not damage incurred later. | ||
