EARLY TAXCO 980 MEXICAN SILVER NECKLACE EARRINGS
Early Taxco necklace and earrings set in what I like to refer to as the "curlicues and beads" design, wrought in 980 silver as is oftentimes the case with pieces as old as this demi. The necklace is a joy to wear and the earrings have been converted to posts. Very folky and quite generous in weight, the set has the fantastic glow that only 980 silver can develop over time. Measuring a wearable 16 1/4" long (actual length 16 1/2") the necklace is 7/8" wide and weighs 60.2 grams. The earrings are approx. 7/8" by 1/2" and their weight registers at 5.6 grams bringing the demi up to 65.8 grams. Marked "MEXICO SILVER" and "TAXCO 980", dating in the 1930s-40s and in excellent vintage condition. Please note that the plastic disks of the "butterflies" on the back of the earrings are of different color.
