 SOLD - Thank you!
Over the years I grew to appreciate good modernist jewelry and Sigi Pineda's work as a Mexican example of such, figures among my absolute favorites. I am drawn to the seamless way he seems to combine ancient motifs with the minimalist fluidity of mod design. The pendant necklace at hand provides a superb illustration of my statement, I think. Beautifully patinated, cast in sterling, the naked figure of a pre-Colombian figure drinking out of a bottle and seemingly in a state of trance(?) is paired here with a hand-wrought chain. The result is mesmerizing! Measuring 2" tall by 1 1/16" wide (at its widest) the pendant is signed with Sigi's name in script as well as "MEX 925"; the chain itself is 29 3/4" and its bears Eagle 3 assay mark as well as well as a maker's signature which is only partial and "MEXICO". The set weighs 27.1 grams and is in excellent vintage condition.
