| Having justly earned a place in the pantheon of those artists whose work changed the way we design and think about silver jewelry, Matilde Poulat created a whole school of silversmiths who emulated her work not only when she was alive and active but even today, in the so called "post-1980" period of Mexican jewelry making. Based on Matl's signature Palomas motif, this is a big, impressive, nicely made bracelet. Coral, amethyst and tiny turquoise beads stud the repousse and wire work ornamentation while the oxidation in the background makes the colors pop. The bracelet is 7 3/4" long (wearable) with its width varying between 1 7/8" in the center front and 1 3/8" at the links. The central figural link is 2 1/4" wide and slightly curved to fit the wrist so I would say that it's perfect for bigger sizes. It weighs 72.7 grams and bears maker's registration code "MS-39", which indicates a Taxco provenance as well as "925" and "MEXICO". Dating in the 1980s and in excellent vintage condition with great patina. | ||
