| Quintessentially Deco in its angularity and the tiered construction of its links, this necklace is signed by yet another "unsung" maestro of early Taxco. I don't think that Narvaez is even mentioned in the literature (at least not in what I have looked at) yet I have come upon his work a few times before and came to associate this specific design with his name. Wrought in a wide, Cleopatra style collar adorned with rectangles of bezel-set peacock abalone, this necklace is truly worthy of a queen and sheer pleasure to wear. Good weight and careful craftsmanship add to its stunning looks. Measuring 15" in wearable length (the length of the inner, shorter circumference) it is 1 1/4" wide and weighs a very generous 125.0 grams. It is signed with Narvaez's name in capitals as well as "TAXCO MEXICO 925" and also bears initials "MBG". Dating in the pre-1948 period and in excellent vintage condition. The matching bracelet is also available in my inventory as you can see and the two look smashing together. | ||
