We are all so used to Maciel cuff bracelets featuring boldly rendered repousse florals so this piece comes as a little surprise. Sweet as can be, it almost belongs among the so-called story-telling jewelry that feature vignettes of everyday life in the villages and small Mexican towns. Here two campesinos are guiding their burros to market - or could they be returning from one, their animals laden with goods for family and friends? The cuff has an inner circumference of 6 3/4" (including the 5/8" gap) yet by construction it's flexible and could be carefully stretched to accommodate bigger size wrists. Its width is 1 7/8" and it weighs 53.0 grams. Fully signed with Maciel's name as well as "925/1000", "MADE IN MEXICO" and des. no (?) 10546-2, it dates in the pre-1948 period and is in excellent vintage condition.
