|I am always thrilled to come upon Rancho Alegre jewelry - I find that their creations, especially their cuffs, are veritable masterpieces both in design as well as craftsmanship. The early mod cuff at hand in a dramatic "wave" motif plays with the constrast between shadow and light as its recessed, heavily oxidized field stands dark against the warmly glowing double-rimmed edges. Even the inner surface is hand-hammered here and bespeaks the high quality of Rancho Alegre pieces. With an inner circumference of 6 1/4" (including the 1 3/8" gap) this is perfect for smaller to medium wrists - I wouldn't advise trying to adjust it because due to construction it is not flexible. The bracelet's width is 1" and it weighs 35.8 grams. Marked with the taller's name as well as "TAXCO", "STERLING 925". Its dating has me a little perplexed - according to Hougart, Rancho Alegre was founded in 1952 which means that this piece should have had an Eagle assay mark; yet I couldn't find one. Is it that the Eagle was stamped on a paper label or could it be that jewelry with Rancho Alegre's signature came out into the market a few years earlier than what we now know? Either way, the cuff is in excellent vintage condition with its oxidation intact, great patina and eye-catching design.|
