Undoubtedly inspired by Margot de Taxco's Koi Fish line, a pair of early Antonio Reina repousse earrings showing playful fish among stylized silver waves. I can't get over the detail in this set - just note the depth of the repoussage, the detail in the scales and the hand-hammering in the waves themselves to render them three-dimensional. The earrings are 1 5/8" long by 15/16" wide and weigh 8.4 grams (for the set). They are signed with Reina's initials "AAR" as well as "TAXCO STERLING", "HECHO EN MEXICO 925" and date in the mid- to later 1940s. In excellent vintage condition with no flaws noted and great patina. Please note that the screw-backs (and only those) are made of alpaca and marked as such.
