 SOLD - Thank you!
An early Los Castillo creation as indicated by the low design number it comes with, this is a cuff with daring, sweeping lines intensified by the taller's bold repoussage and the patina it has acquired over time. It is not a coincidence that the Los Castillo family ranks among the premier designers and silvermsiths of Taxco's 20th c. Silver Renaissance. It is not only their stunning desing repertoire that awards them that position; it's also the caliber of their craftsmanship, the attention to detail, the flawless finishing and generous weight of their pieces. The cuff at hand exhibits a strong Art Nouveau influence with its undulating, freely flowing design. This is a visually powerful bracelet and will look equally stupendous whether you choose to wear it loosely around the wrist or push further up the arm. Having an inner circumference of 6 1/2" (including the 1 1/8" gap) the cuff is not adjustable (I have not seen one Los Castillo cuff that was). Its width reaches 1 1/2" and it weighs 67.7 grams. It is signed with the taller's early, straight line signature alongside "TAXCO" and "STERLING MADE IN MEXICO" as well as des. no 461. Dating in the 1940s and in excellent vintage condition with a couple of very light, almost imperceptible impressions - they are hardly visible, closer to either end of the cuff and don't affect its beauty at all.
