|Possibly the most sought after creation in Casa Maya's copper, brass and green enamel line the habitually referred to as "The Kiss" design is characterized by a bold, crazy "Carmen Miranda" attitude. Yet it seems that the bracelet's two figures are most probably pre-Colombian noblemen and according to Hargrove even representations of the great 7th c. CE king Pakal of Palenque (see Sandy Hargrove, Maya Mexico Jewelry, p. 62 ). Wrought out of hand-hammered copper and brass the two figures form the bracelet's wings, their lips almost touching as they meet in the center front. Please note the teardrop dangle beneath them and the highly stylized, enameled hairdo. A truly stunning bracelet and a definite statement piece, it has an inner circumference of 7" with its width tapering from 1 3/4" to 1 1/2". The dangle adds a 2 3/4" drop to it. It is signed with the taller's name yet not very well stamped and dates in the 1950s-60s. In excellent vintage condition with very good patina and just a couple of small spots of wear in the copper finish (around the eye of the copper figure and at its "neckline"; not readily noticeable with a naked eye, I have photographed them here with a macro lens for more accuracy)|
