Early Deco repousse silver bracelet in the so-called Mexico City style, very reminiscent of Matilde Poulat's first creations.
Classically "archeological" in inspiration, the mask bracelet presented here has the hand-crafted characteristics that are so unique to the genre: textured repoussage, an almost naive approach to finishing, a motif that comes out of Mexico's pre-Colombian past and a primordial appeal that becomes more potent the longer one looks at the piece.
The bracelet measures 7" long (wearable) and its width varies between 1 5/16" at center front and 7/16" near the clasp, on the back. It weighs 40.2 grams and is simply signed "STERLING" with early, raised letters. It dates in the 1930s and is in excellent vintage condition with great patina and no flaws noted.
