One of the few females of Taxco - at least, one of the few whose name we actually know - Erika Hult de Corral 's creations can be impressive, exhibiting genuine creativity and a certain sense of comfort within the realm of modernist design. I particularly like her "moonscape" pieces, partly because I first learned about her years ago when I happened upon such a necklace and earrings set by her. The piece presented here is a variation on the theme - a long pendant necklace with heavily "pitted" and oxidized beads, tubular links and a central medallion that brings all these elements together. It measures 24 3/8" long (wearable) with the pendant being 15/16" wide (at the top) by 2 1/8" tall. It weighs 52.3 grams and is signed on a tag with her initials "Ric" in script as well as Eagle 3 and "MADE IN MEXICO 925", this last hallmark badly stamped. Dating in the 1960s-70s and is in excellent vintage condition with great patina.
