A quintessentially mod genre, I love "clamshell" Taxco jewelry them for their heft, their slick minimalism and the splash of unexpected color that usually emanates from their stones. Yet here it’s dark obsidian that anchors this piece in a classic combination that defies the passage of time. The bracelet has an inner circumference of 7″ (clasped) and its width varies between 1″ and 1/2″. The "clamshell" applique at center front is 1 5/8″ square and the piece weighs 87.4 grams. Signed with maker’s signature as shown as well as “”HECHO EN MEXICO D.F.” and “STERLING 925″, it dates in the 1940s and is in excellent vintage condition with a gorgeous stone.
