One of Taxco's foremost modernist designers, Enrique Ledesma is a master when it comes to setting gems against oxidized, minimalist backgrounds and the hinged bracelet at hand proves the veracity of my assertion. Open-backed topaz and color-change sapphire, one of each, seem to float on a silky gris-sourris platform drawing attention to their strong color and to the asymmetry of the design. The bracelet has an inner circumference of 6 7/8" (clasped) while its width varies between 1 1/4" in the front and 1/2" at its narrowest, in the back. Weighing 60.3 grams, this is a fully signed piece with Ledesma's name in straight capital letters as shown as well as "TAXCO 925", "HECHO EN MEXICO" and Eagle 3 assay mark. It dates in the 1950s-60s and is in excellent vintage condition offering the added security of a safety chain.
