Very rare and signed by a maestro who is appreciated for his repousse work, a sterling silver Mexican clamper bracelet celebrating the zodiac sign of Aquarius. Though made in Taxco, the style and workmanship on this piece are closely related to Matilde Poulat and the school of Mexico City repoussage. I cannot get over the amazing patina the bracelet has developed over the years and the way its figural motif stands proud of the stippled and oxidized background in the central medallion. A unique, beautifully made clamper, 7 1/8" in inner circumference with a width of 2 1/4" at center front tapering down to 1" at its narrowest, next to the hinge. The bracelet weighs 61.0 grams and is signed with maker's initials "J.C." as well as "TAXCO 925", "HECHO EN MEXICO" and Eagle 3 assay mark. It dates in the 1950s and is in excellent vintage condition with amazing patina (you can always buff it up a little, if you wish), great design and execution, a fully working hinge and no flaws noted.
