Bold repousse, deeply oxidized recesses and a sculptural design to begin with combine in this stunning Mexican Deco sterling silver demi comprised of a necklace and matching bracelet. I could never exaggerate the craftsmanship and fleshiness of the repoussage - nor could I even come close to describing the warm, glowing patina the set has developed over its long life. Simply superb, the necklace has a wearable length of 16 1/4" (actual length is just shy of 17"; it can easily accept an extension, should you need it) and it is 3/4" wide. The bracelet is 7 3/4" long (wearable; actual length is 8 1/8") by a generous 1 1/2" wide and the demi combined weighs 102.5 grams. Not signed for maker yet hallmarked "STERLING TAXCO MEXICO" and bearing des. no 4, it is marked in a way reminiscent of the Los Castillo taller and I am thinking the demi's maker was probably one of their maestros. Dating in the 1940s and in excellent vintage condition - just take a look at the photos!
