Hand-crafted in Cuernavaca, one of Mexico's silversmithing centers alongside Taxco, a Deco necklace with barrel beads studded with sterling florets in the Etruscan style. I am very partial to early beaded necklaces and this is one of my favorite designs. Substantial yet not visually overwhelming due to the dainty little wire flowers with their beaded centers, the necklace measures a wearable 15 5/8" long and has a width of approx. 1/2". It weighs 60.0 grams and is signed with maker's intiials "E.D." as well as "CUERNAVACA HECHO EN MEXICO" and "0.925". It dates in the 1930s-40s and is in excellent vintage condition with fantastic patina, classically elegant and with no florets or any of its tiny beads missing.
